KotH Schaapsen

    Hi fans!
    The screenshots that you can see on the left side, present my first attempt to create my own TF2 map.
    It's been several years ago, that I had the idea to rebuild a little old North German farm called Schaapsen (in Germany between Hannover and Bremen) in the digital world, just for fun of cause!
    Having some experience with the Hammer Editor in the past, I build a CS:S and two Portal 1 maps. But that happened already years ago, and I wasn't t quiet sure, if it would work out this time.
    Nevertheless, it turned out to be much more complicated to settle this landscape (I lived there during my childhood for about ten years), into a TF2 koth map, than I thought!
    Meanwhile, after four month of work, I'm mapping and using every free hour on map updates, so that the rendering now takes up to 5,5 hours each time.
    Still, with a lot of work to do, and many options to take into consideration, I'm enjoying this journey into my own past! I'm not quiet sure where this experiment will take me, but I'll keep you informed from time to time.

    Looks wonderful so far, I'd say put in some more medium height variations so it's a bit more scout friendly and less sniper friendly.
    Also I tend to agree with Sergis, asymmetrical maps are typically a/d.

    Detailing aside, it looks more like a Counter-Strike map. Maybe Hostage Rescue, since there's only the one big building? *shrug*

    Thanks for all the suggestions and comments.
    At the beginning it was just fun to make a map as detailed and true to original as possible. The map should work well in TF2 now. I´m not really sure if koth or a/d will work better, most likely there will be different versions of the map.

    @ Nakedape: thnx for your "wonderful so far" :)
    Small changes in height are still possible - but the map would be different then. I have tried to add three levels with different heights in the Map: basement / floor / roof
    I don´t know if this is sufficient, and you're right, it looks like a sniper-friendly map. But too friendly? ;)
    I will add a couple of screenshots from the map side to see better the different heights.

    The bot testing makes already a lot of fun. But I think with real players it is again something completely different ...

    @ Mr.Wimpels: I had to add some elements into the map, that had never been there and left out a lot of stuff that had been there - the ICBM from my backyard is 1:1 of course ;)

    first playable version for download !!! :)

    i know this is not a competitive map, but my idea of a funny KotH map off my childhood is finished.
    Not "finished" finished - there are so many little texture issues, maybe gameplay problems, team balance Problems, not really optimized and so on, but the idea of koth + schaapsen is finished.

    i´d never thought, that this could makes so much fun.
