What is this? Ruins is a top down adventure set in a massive ruins that go deeper and deeper below the ground! This game is a very early W.I.P. Nothing in this is really final, but I do have something to show, and some basic story.........

    Story:

The story of Ruins isn't really decided, but the basic premise is that a group of people want to go in The Ruins, for one reason or another, and find the secrets below, or some other things

    Characters:

William: William is an adventurer looking to explore The Ruins for discovery, and to find a friend who was lost below in the depths of The Ruins
Robbie: Robbie is a world-infamous robber who happened to catch some History Channel program about The Ruins, and the treasures that could be deep below.
Scott: Scott in short is a mad scientist, completely crazed with the idea of world domination, he sets out to find ancient technology that could further his interest.
James: James is a douche, and he got the worst bet from his friends, for 300$ he goes down into The Ruins. But little does he know, the frat parties don't prepare you for facing death.....
Veronica: Veronica is a assassin for hire, and she needs to chase down a target who fled into these Ruins...

OTHER CHARACTERS ARE STILL IN THE WORKS

    Gameplay:

The player will be tasked with descending into The Ruins, and facing anything that may pop up below..... They can collect plenty of treasures to make it rich, or scrape by all the things out to kill. These Ruins are no where near inactive, and many things will attempt to end your life, and your descent. The player only has one life, and there are no revivals.

Judging by your screenshot, this game reminds me of dwarf fortress

And not in a good way.

Nothing that I can see there makes sense to me. Where's the player? Are those eyes supposed to be coins? Is that an oil slick or a hole in the ground?

Ehhh, the graphics are very early, they are mainly just there to have a basic representation of what is to come. They are missing animations and such......

I'll probably give the player brighter colors, as most of the game will be using Grays and Browns for backgrounds and such. Anything important will be fairly bright and colorful, as to catch the players attention.....

That picture feels a little noisy and aimless. I have no idea what my attention is supposed to be drawn to.

You should wait until you have something worth presenting before you present it. Keep in mind that first impressions are very important. Otherwise people are gonna think you're showing off a game made in Windows 98.

Geez guys, he said the game was an early work in progress. It's like looking at a1 of a map and saying it should look more like a release candidate.

Are you planning on posting any versions of the game here, Moonrat? Would be a great way of gaining some feedback early in the game's life. :)

Also, not sure your experience with art/design, but I'm sure if you continue to work on the game and it's enjoyable, you wouldn't have too much trouble finding someone to collaborate with on that end.

When I finish the second level (Which is soon) I am going to post a tech demo for those that want to test the early versions of the game

Just a few things I want to say real quick,

1: My computer tells me that the program may be bad for my computer. Can anyone tell me either A: How to get it to open, and B: is anyone who DID open it able to vouch for it and say that it won't make my computer explode?

2: I was just wondering, is this your first game? Because if it is, then great work m8.

3: I recently had an idea for my first game: Camels on a train. I have a weird obsession with camels and trains. (So I hated EotL when it popped up with no trains and ducks instead of camels) I figured some basic game like that might be good for a first.

!. It's a fairly simple game, so I don't think your computer should blow the fuck up if you open it.

    2. Ah hell nah, I've been at this single idea for about 5 years now......

Windows literally always does that when you try to open EXEs. Click the "Don't show this message again" and you'll be golden.
