    Dear fellow mappers

I'm not new to making maps but have not created any successful maps besides a single DoD gg map called PinkStar. (don't think it exists any more) But I do feal confident with using the Hammer editor and creating maps. The problem I have is getting (?) a good idea of a map. You know, layout and settings and so on....
So to battle my urge of publish a map with my lack f imagination I was thinking of converting old maps to tf2.
Any map that could be edited by Hammer will do. Either DoD, CS or TF... maybe other maps to?
I will ofcourse not take credit being the creator of the map but rather the converter. I do respect those who create maps. But do I need any written permissions from the devs of say DoD if I want to reuse one of thair maps?
I also understand that there might be problems with materials used in DoD but not TF2 but I could replace them relative easy.. (ofcourse I have to replace and fix the game spawns and other logic's)
But the first question is, is it acceptable and legally possible to convert old maps to TF2?

To be completely honest, old maps, without some serious revisions, really don't work in TF2. I know someone remade some CS map for TF2 a little while back, but that required some major layout changes and polishing.

Don't be afraid of pushing out an Alpha of a map you don't feel has a complete vision behind it, iteration makes up the large majority of the creative process. Many of today's most popular maps had quite unrecognizable beginnings.

I was thinking that old DoD maps might be fun to play with MvM... the scene is there... so to speak..
A devistaed area with craters and so on... but those maps might be hard for the bots

Thats when you re-make the map and update it so it does work with the bots

But besides that... there should not be any problem with converting DoD maps to TF2_MvM?
No legal thingys or stuff like that...
As stated before, I'm not interested in calming being the creator of the map but just the converter.
