Is there anyway to force a resolution on TF2?

I like most people have a 16:10 screen, and at the moment I am playing on 1440x900 however this is a bit much for my laptop really I want 1200x800 but the next res down for this aspect ration is 720x480 (wtf, useless)(yes this isn't 16:10 forgot the actual one but its something like this, ill have a look next time I start TF2).

anyway any ideas how I can force 1280x800, I can run 1280x720 but it looks stretched and runs slower that the higher res (probably cause the computer has to do scaling?)

you can change the screen ratio in video settings. it's a drop-down menu.

Shp, Aces question is more so the drop down doesn't have the resolution he is looking for, so is wondering if there is any way to hard set the res he wants.

I wish i knew Ace, i would like to as well as i play windowed.

    Hi there,

There are a few "launch commands" one can use to tweak the parameters of all steam games: open your steam games, right click on TF2 (or another one) and from that menu choose "Set Launch Options" and there type this:
    -width 1280 -height 800
    That's it :)

    Other commands:

    -novid
    -console
    -dxlevel x version
    -refresh xx Hz
    -heapsize xxxx Kb

    I Hope it helps :)
