Hey all,
Is there a way to resize or crop a prop_static?

I am currently making a prison wall, I wanted barbed wire on the top. There is no world model that is just the top of a barbed wire fence, so I used the whole fence and sunk it into the wall, so that jsut the barbed wire sections shows. Looks JUST like I want it too.

Problem is, now I need to make a doorway in the wall, and the fence is in the way.

Yep, this is terrible and sadly true, you cannot change the scale of the props.

I know I'm not experienced with this sort of thing but couldn't he turn the fence upside down and put No Draw around the part of the fence he doesn't want? Would that work?

No, nodraw will still render the stuff in it, nodraw is for a brush to hide the faces you don't see.
Or am i wrong too? :)

Don't know a huge amount about occluders but I'm pretty sure they only hide the model if it is completely behind the occluder and then it will hide the whole model, so you're pretty far off I think

An occluder will.. "occlude" an object if it's origin is obscured by the occluder. If you can see the models origin it will be rendered.

EDIT: Just a query, whats prop_scalable? Doesn't that allow you to scale a model for use in the 3dskybox? Could it be used here? Or am i way off? I've never used one before..

Looks like you're just not going to have barbed wire above your gate.... Maybe you could think of something else to put above it?

maybe I'm missing something... but there is different scales of the fence you're using already. About as many different lengths as you could ever use. Why don't you just use those?
