I have downloaded several textures from this site that I would like to use on a map I am developing. Unfortunately, every time I try to add those textures (.vmt & .vtf files are included) to my materials file (in TF2) and start hammer, all I get are pink and black checkerboards in place of my textures. What am I going wrong?:cursing:

First, the vtf, and vmt files should be in:

C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\YOURACCOUNT\team fortress 2\tf\materials\Nature

*Where Nature is an example folder

Make sure the .vmt refrences the correct directory, for example

if we were working with rockground008, located in the nature folder, the .vmt would need this line:

"$basetexture" "Nature/rockground008"

It sounds like the vmt is there, but is looking in the wrong spot for the vtf. you'll need to edit the .vmt to reflect your file structure.

Hope that helps, if not:
