OK, so here is the first upload of my first map using the hammer editor.

The main focus of this map is just to get an understanding of most of the basic hammer tools and techniques.

I will be uploading more screenshots and a 2d top down soon.

All comments and critiques are welcome; please bare in mind that this is my first attempt with the hammer editor so any obvious stuff missing or just plain bad take with a grain of salt.

-added more screen shots and changed the name
-changing map name from Pumphouse to Drainstation
-updating all old pics with new name

I just added a quick top down.

There's a gay bar in my town called the Pump House.

It's pretty clean.

Well it is a working title...damnit now all I'm going to think of is that my map is also a gay bar.

:lol:

Looks like a Dev and/or HL2 Water...
Yup it was one of the /nature ones. Turns out there are specific TF2 ones... I think I'll swap it out with one of those.

Alright! So here are a few more screen shots of my map. Its pretty dark for the interiors and I'm trying to get that sorted out, but overall I think its progressing smoothly.

Somethings I've learned recently:
-there are duplicate model textures of world textures that light really funny.
-cubemaps need to be rebuilt after each name change
-changing brushes into func_detail can really improve compile times
-the genius behind a lot of valve's level design is in its simplicity
