Yep - just got a Valve response to my petition, and it was:

"Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

Please visit the following page for information:

Additional resources can be found on our forums:

Also, feel free to visit the Valve Developer Wiki:

That's pretty poor.

When you reinstalled the SDK, did you delete/rename the sourcesdk_content folder too? Worth a shot.

Now, I haven't tried Windows 7... but if you right-click on the SDKLauncher.exe file, is there a way to put it into 32-bit compatibility mode or something that sounds like that?

I wish I could help, but, well, I'm running Windows 7 final x64 and have no problems with the Source SDK or Hammer. :\

Final, not Release Candidate? I'm on RC build 7100, and I can't find a way to upgrade to RTM or whatever.... How do I do it?

Welp, I got a copy, installed and I still have the exact same problems.

So much for that.

It seems like the GCF's might not be extracting properly... I realised I've not got the example .vmfs for TF2, and yet they're in the GCF..
