I was looking in the search if i may replace default FGD textures with my own using pakrat. Apparently i may, but I've came across this:

No no no and no. You are never to override default content with embedded stuff of the same name. It stays cached and persists to every map after that until the client is closed.

So the question is:
If server changes maps, doesn't it means that all default textures are reloaded?

I want to replace some prop skin, but don't want it to show on other maps...

Only if you run the command "mat-realoadallmaterials" (there is also one only for textures), the client will reload everything, but i dont know if you can run this via command in a map, without disconnecting from the server.

Why dont you just save the textures under another name?

They WILL override the default materials untill the player either restarts his game or manuallr refreshes the textures, which no one ever does.

So yes, using them will screw over other payload maps that the person plays after.
