Occluders & Hints

    I'm optimising my map, but before I really start I have some questions about occluders & hint brushes:

    Will occluders work if all sides of the brush have the occluder texture, or do some have to be skip textures?

    Is it a good idea to put occluders in every building wall in my map?

    Will bad things happen if I turn all my level geometry into func_detail and just use hint brushes to control the visleafs?

    1. yes they will, except you use nodraw, not skip

    3. Just a gigantic leak. Why'd you do that anyway, to increase the filesize?

    I haven't used occluders yet, but this tutorial seems to explain them pretty comprehensively.

    So probably not, if the walls are close together.

    I don't know why you would want to make everything func_detail, vvis should take care of walls etc. that obviously block the player's view.
