    Nordhaven B3
The Traditional Winter Festival of the North

now available in strawberry beta flavour!

Something I've put a lot of work into (and still plan to put a substantial amount into), Nordhaven is to be my xmas/newyear map of 2009.

Nordhaven is a quiet village in the northern regions, where the midwinter festival is one of the most important times of the year for the inhabitants. They celebrate the coming of the new year by exchanging gifts, dancing, getting drunk and engaging in the traditional midwinter game of "steal the suitcase".

I think func_detail doesnt help anything here, as those remain brushes, and thus have brushsides.

    Have you tried propper?

I refuse to accept that this seemingly small map has maxed out brushes.

If they're not, the roofs should be displacements to save on brushes.

What in the Wide World of Sports makes this max out the brushsides. Are the wood panels inbetween supports individual brushes? If they are, combining them will save you some (not sure if enough, though) sides.

By the looks of it that is the fog as it is a little dense. Try making it less dense, see how it looks. Not thats i am saying its a bad point.

yeh, i know... that is weird.
how do i remove the duplicates?

i've cleared the mail, so resend when you can (accidently deleted yours. oops :blushing: )

and inspiration-wise, it might be nordberg inspired, or maybe not, or perhaps it's oblivion based. either way, i'm gonna let people keep guessing for now XD

Can you upload your compile log to Pastebin or something? Because, like many of us, I find it hard to believe you've capped the Brush limit with this little area..

    that's old news now. sorry.

i'll copy it next time i compile a release though.

and it wasn't the brush limit it was the FACE limit. i.e. i had a lot of cylinders and similar shapes. most of those are models now

Well I must say I like this map alot. However, I find both the skybox and some of the natural textures to not fit the tf2 theme as well as they could.
