I'm looking for someone who is good at detailing a map.

I'm making a KOTH map and need someone to help me with a few things, as well as help optimize and help make the detailing correct. I can do most of the work, say 75%, but the optimizing, detailing, and 3d skyboxing is not my strong point and you will be credited with co-making the map.

Every map I make doesn't quite look 'valve-style' and it's starting to bore me how much I suck :O

Message me over steam and I'll give you an outline of the map I did in ms paint

    'we'?

    mappermind.

anyways I haven't done much outside of a very ugly mspaint outline, but I could give you a better mental image over steam chat. I'd like to keep this map secret till it comes out.

Keep in mind it's pretty small, but it has a sort of complicated 3d skybox I'm trying to figure out how to do.

After I see what it looks like I might want to help :)
I am one of those people that go crazy over details, Which is one of the reasons I never finish a map, I always do the details before the base is done.

I may want to do the details as well if I get to see the layout first.... I'm one of those people that cannot come up with a decent layout for the life of me, but can do the details/lighting/etc just fine.

So want to see my crappy ms paint layout and the idea of the map? I sort of wanted to keep it secret till it was finished but I'll post it here if you don't want to add me on steam.

EDIT: I also need someone GOOD with making a valve-like map, if it doesn't look like a map valve would make, it's not what I'm going for. I need to have that 'tf2 stock' look for a reason, and that's the map itself.

So I need a really good detail-ist to help me with my idea.

As a general rule, you should tell people as much as you can about your map, because secrecy very rarely gets publicity. I would like to help you out on this, but that all depends on what the map will look like when I do the detailing.

    ALRIGHTY THEN!

    KOTH_HILL
    (name is work in progress)

This map is based off of Meet the engineer.

Here we see the engineer camping on a hill, or road, where his truck broke down.

This is the place of the 'hill' or CP

There are two mountains on each side, one is not visible in the trailer.

Let me give you a better image

I KNOW IT LOOKS LIKE A CYCLOPS

Alright, so basically it's a pretty symetrical map based off of meet the engineer. the reason I wanted to do this is was to make a 'valve' style map, and that's why i need someone to do the details like textures, skybox, ect.

If I could have some help it'd be awesome.

I'm also going to make a video for the map, much like the stock map tutorial videos.

just because it's so fun to do.

It's also going to be a night map so I don't need to do too much lighting.

Also, here is a better understanding of what you are looking at in meet the engineer.

The grayed part is what you DON'T see.

of course you don't see the floating red letters either.

The layout could use a bit of spicing up, but parallel layouts like that are uncommon (perhaps for a reason? I dunno.) Could be interesting, though. :p

Imean, my original idea was to make the red and blu spawns a bit farther apart, one high and one less elevated. I dunno though, I have to see how the alpha testers think of it if I get there with it.

Whoever is interested add me on steam, I need some help getting mountains set up correctly then I'll give you the bricked out and partially textured map for you to go to town on

You forgot to add in the sentries with infinite range who shoot rockets into the sky for absolutely no reason. Oh, and the hoard of lemmings who run directly into the sentries without trying to shoot them.
Incidentally, if you need an understudy, that part is based off of the connection in hydro from the bridge to the satellite dish. So there's kind-of already something similar-ish.

Hmm that does help. I think valve took that part and modified it for meet the engineer. I'll look into the source for hydro and see about working off of it.

This isn't one of my greatest plans either, if hydro turns out to look similar, I might end up just using that for detail reference. Thanks for your help, I'll post again if I need more help with this.

I must help you from the beginning. Add me on steam, and try to keep in touch as much as possible. Send me a vmf file at least once a fortnight. I want to make sure that this doesn't flop, so I'd like to be involved however I can.

that area is just a modified portion of hydro.

No, dude. Koth_hill is an awful name. Call it koth_conundrum, which was what I called the idea back when I had it.
