    My first map - koth_waffle - An interesting insight into a noob mapper's awful visage

    Mentlegen, I present to you my first map: Waffle.

    I know... it's too closed-in at the Control Point... but hey! That's something to improve right away!
    I apologize for slight errors like 1-pixel wide gaps. I'm... getting to grips with Hammer. ;-;

    This is an Alpha version~
    Any feedback on area development/etc. would be greatly appreciated! ^.^

    First of all please add a version string to your map, like _a1, or _a2 so there aren't any missmatching map files if you update the map, more feedback is incoming later, I will look at the map right now!

    What does the 6 mean on this panel?

    Thick door, not bad for an alpha but you can replace it with a real door prop, that is moved by a func_door brush.

    This room is very cramped and small, the staircase takes to much room, maybe making this building a little bit bigger, could, help?

    Same, again, small area to move, making this room bigger could help, by navigating through it

    a little 1 unit big gap, here, close this up to make your visleafs simpler.

    As you already said, the point fells very small and hard to access, it's also pretty high up

    This upper room is pretty useless, apart from the health pack, it's only one way and doesn't give you an advantage. (It could even trap you, if you try to escape from the enemy)

    This is a long snipersightline, that leads directly to the blue spawn

    The spawn and the point are pretty close together. The map also feels overall pretty small for a koth map (viaduct formula:

    If your grid size is too small, little gaps like this can slip by unnoticed. Change the grid size with the square brackets to something like 16, 32, or 64 for blocking out your layout. If your brushes still aren't obeying this grid, Shift + W toggles snapping to grid.

    Thanks for the feedback, guys!
    I have been changing grid size constantly throughout, but I, uh, guess I forgot on a few occasions.

    That "6" message... I have no idea where that came from. I never entered a 6 for anything and it never showed up while I ran the map. :| spooky.

    I'll look into ironing out these flaws, or reworking the map to be more KOTH-friendly.

    It could also be my game, so if nobody else report this problem I don't think you have to worry about it.

    I also got the 6 thing once I spawned, and some of the rooms are useless like sim stated, also that sniper sightline is too op.
