Let's just say I am making a map where the playable area is on a moving train and if you hop off the train and get hit by a tree or land on the ground you die.

How do I make this guys?

Sorry I am a bit of a newbie

Surround your train with a brush and tie it to trigger_hurt, then set the hurt damage to 1000 or so for instant death.

make a trigger brush, set it to func_hurt.
All the options in there speak for themself.
And make the enviroment moving, not the train itself

aah the good old UT map :) that was sure loads of fun :)

you could just make a canyon with scrolling textures like the convoy map. if you want trees whizzing by, you can set them up like the train(s) on well.

You can use scrolling textures, which are textures that are animated in their .vmt.

For moving pieces of the environment (trees, buildings, etc), you will need to use several trains that move from the front of your train to the back (these can have models parented to them if you use nodraw for the trains). The physical train you'll be standing on the whole time, however, will not move at all.

For an example of the effect that you will be generating, take a look at ctf_cruise.
