    My first map! :)ohmy:)

    Set in an abandoned mine (yeah, I don't know where I get these crazy ideas from either), arena_mine is an arena map set in an abandoned mine. Since there is still gold left in this abandoned mine, RED and BLU are fighting for the gold in this abandoned mine.

    Feel free to comment on the originality of the abandoned mine setting.

    Known issues:

    Probably some displacements that don't align properly



    Frankly, I'm surprised I haven't won an award for originality yet. Maybe the post is late.

    Looks very dark from screenshots. Also kinda empty, maybe add building or two on the sides?

    It's supposed to be dark (the map is set at night) but I may add more lighting/brighten up the ambient light if a lot people think it's too dark (which they probably will).

    an easier spotter for too dark is if you cant tell what team is a player is on when they are in the dark.

    if you want to, try displacing and alpha blending the ground, it would make it a little more detailed

    I'd say too Sniper-friendly, it's gonna be Heavy hell (but then again, what isn't?).

    Maybe, I tried to have enough cover but I guess I'll just see how it plays.

    Just played in the game test and wanted to share my thoughts.

    First and foremost the spawn, something REALLY needs to be done here. The fact that you can get outside the play area is really annoying, especially as it becomes a haven for snipers. Perhaps what would be best would be to have a garage connected to the first building, or even build the spawn into that building.

    The cavern below is REALLY cool, though a couple of your displacements are currently off. Also it is just a hair too dark down there at the moment, I can't even tell what team people are on. Still keep it dark but lighten it up a little bit.

    Otherwise I really like it, I look forward to seeing where the map goes. :)

    Allowing people to run around outside of the play area is a big no-no. Close up this map and make it a bit less open on the outside.

    I'd like to see fewer props and more brush-based walls in the central arena. As it is, it feels very cluttered and is a pain to navigate.

    Arena maps with water tend not to really need healthkits, since both are mostly used to pus out fire in normal pubs.

    The ammokits are difficult to find. Putting more of them, or having them in more acceceble locations would be nice.

    I also spotted some HL2 textures on the middle track thingy. Generally it's a bad idea to use those.

    Like everyone else:
    - Quite dark
    - Stop people running outside
    - I don't see much benefit in the big pit, its INCREDIBLY dark down there, very bad, you can't even see players never mind tell what team they're on!

    The overall thing feels quite 'blocky' to me and it doesn't seem to have much of a grounding in reality... i mean a pait of buildings in the very middle of a crater, seems a little wierd doesnt it? I'd think of a reason for what you've got to be where it is then build supporting details around them to back up the 'backstory'

    Then add some more light ;)
