    Updates to Team Fortress 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

    Team Fortress 2

    * Updated cp_egypt with changes based on player feedback, added additional health/ammo and updated routes
    * Additional character loadout menu changes to support future features

    Heh, just saw this in the Steam forums when I went to see what the update was about. Check out the bottom of the "tf_english.txt" file in the "team fortress 2 content.gcf" (it's under "root > tf > resource")

    Changes to Egypt, form what I can observe

    1-1
    More cover for defenders
    Reoriented RED spawns to face the faster exit
    Longer cap time

    1-2
    Boxes and barrels to prevent red engies from building near spawn
    Removed staircase to the backend for RED

    2-1
    Added new spawn exit for BLU
    Added new ramp for BLU
    Added new metal for BLU

    2-2
    Removed barrier that shielded teh point from BLU
    Added one-way door near the point
    Removed fencing that shielded RED spawn
    Ramp that leads to RED spawn

    Stage 3
    Added one way door on the leftmost exit (BLU orientation)

    But that is 100% a joke. They're just putting this in to make us laugh or make us worry.


    Gonna have to take a look at egypt soon.

    Those Egypt changes are interesting. I've always wanted to like that map, but it's just no fun. Maybe this will help.

    Did Valve take control of Egypt then? I.E. presumably they made these changes rather than the original map author.

    I'm not overly sold on Egypt as a working map, hopefully these changes do improve it but it seemed rather large and open which always had me.. incapable of immersing myself in the gameplay.

    The original author made the changes. I playtested a beta of the new version on a server a while ago, he was in there collecting feedback before sending it to VALVe.

    My bet is Valve looked at their first round of stats on Egypt, saw 90% wins on defense, and decided something needed to change pronto

    Once again, Valve had little part in the Egypt update. It was done entirely by Heyo himself.
