Thanks to SedimentarySocks for the SFM poster! Purpose: This is a formal way for all of us to get together and play all the contest WIP MvM maps. The objective of these games is to give all participating map makers constructive and helpful feedback so they can continue to make progress with their contest submission (both their maps and their waves). Where: Potato's MvM Servers When the gameday starts, an event will be made on the above steam group and the server IP will be provided. (The event may not always be announced on the TF2Maps steam group so definitely make sure to check the server steam group.) Server Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States Server ping by region: - 20-100 ms for USA - 120-160 ms for EU - 300-350 ms for AU Host: - Hydrogen - @Benoist3012 - @Muddy When: - Every Saturday and Sunday of the week leading up to the contest deadline. - The gameday starts at 12 PM EDT and ends at around 3 PM EDT (morning/afternoon USA, evening EU). - It will resume again at 10 PM EDT and end no later than 1 AM EDT (late night USA, morning/afternoon AU). Preference will be given to AU map makers during this session. Maps: - WIP contest maps posted here. Preference will be given to people who ask for their map to be tested on this thread. Otherwise, we will pick maps at random to test. - Non-contest maps may be played if people want inspirations or ideas for their maps and/or waves. (This will be handled on a case-by-case basis by the host.) Submission Rules: - Your map must be versioned (e.g. mvm_mapname_a4). You may not submit a map of the same file name again to the server. - Do not pack your nav and pop files into the bsp. If the server crashes on map load your map will be excluded. - Supply a functional pop file with your map. It can be a Valve pop file renamed to your map but ensure it plays start to finish. In particular, make sure tanks work. - Failure to follow these rules may result in your map test being prematurely aborted or skipped outright from testing. Gameday rules: - The standard TF2Maps.net rules apply to all these games. - The steam group chat will be the main source of communication between the hosts and players in the event something unexpected happens (server crash, lost connection, etc). Try to remain in the group chat until you decide to leave the testing or the testing ends. - Each map is limited to 1 hour of game time. After the time elapses, the decision to continue playing the map is up to the people on the server. - If a map has two missions to be tested, each mission will be tested on separate days. - Less priority will be given to a map that has been played recently to ensure everyone has a fair chance to get their map tested. - As a player, make sure you are capable of handling the difficulty of the MvM mission that is being tested. If you join a difficulty inappropriate for your skill level (e.g. expert when you don't have much experience, or normal mode as a veteran player) you may be asked to leave. Inappropriately skilled players (either too low or too high) can easily mislead the mapper to incorrectly (re)balance their waves. Notes: - Please repack your map to save people time when they download your map. - Try to join us when we play your map (even if it means sitting in spectator) as seeing your map being played real-time can give you much more useful feedback. - If the map download fails while joining the server, try connecting again. - You can find demo files and feedback data here. - Any maps that we don't manage to cover or complete on Saturday will roll over to Sunday. Any maps not completed on Sunday will either roll over to the weekdays or roll over to the next weekend (depending if the hosts can run games during the weekdays). Directions: - Create a download page for your map on TF2Maps. - Post in this thread if you want your map tested during the upcoming weekend so we can prioritize it. Follow the post format below. We will be using this single thread for all tests leading up to the contest deadline. - Join the server steam group for any events that may go out related to map testing. Submission format: Questions or comments about the gamedays? Feel free to ask in this thread in addition to submitting your map for testing. For questions related to the contest itself, ask in the contest thread. For questions related to fixing issues with your map, it's best to make your own thread. Thanks and see you there!
