Map & Teleports Opinions

    I am considering using Teleports between bases rather than having a mid. Looking for opinions on this. I would imagine that as long as area's allow diffrent classes to utilies there abilities it would work.

    On a side note would bots be able to use teleports.

    This is a ctf map that I am redesigning after a not so desirable initial launch a while back. Hopfully this gives you an idea.

    Looks very tight and a little constricting. You'd need multiple teleporters or an open teleportish death match kind of area to try and avoid camping. Neat idea though.

    Its really not tight at all. On the other hand it would be tight the way it is if the teleports were up in front area of the base but movement wise the map isn't constricted at all. I still have an idea for a new mid to build but the idea was something I've been tossing around in my head.

    Still looking for more opinions.

    Well, for 1 the bots wont be able to use the teleport.
    I'm too tired right now to give a proper opinion, but an issue that might arise is that you need to make sure players KNOW it's a teleporter. People might just walk past it like if it's aesthetic, but you'll probably be able to overcome that easily.

    Generally, teleports are bad in multiplayer maps.

    It looks like you're going to be teleporting people around to places that they can't see where they are tele'ing from. This makes using the teleporters a disadvantage because you're dropped into a zone with no idea of where it is in regards to the rest of the map. This is why we spawn at the final spawn on CP maps, so we run through the entirety of the map and can see what is to come, where to fall back to, etc. Teleporting eliminates this and makes it very hard to comprehend whats going on.

    Thanks for the input guys I think you have steered me away from this idea. I think I will be implementing my mid redesign idea instead. Hopefully you will be seeing a new map in the near future.
