Service no longer available. Closed due to nobody really needing it.

    Map information community translation service
TF2 supports language suffix map descriptions. We have a fair amount of members for whom English is their second language, so I thought, why don't we utilize their native language into a unique service?

It adds an extra little bit of polish to your map. It might even increase word-of-mouth exposure through non-English speakers.

The aim will be for a turnaround of one week (or less) from request to reception. But don't get upset if it ends up a little longer, the translators are volunteering to help you.

    Mappers
    Requirements
Your map must meet the following requirements to request a translation set:
    • First and foremost, it should be a custom description. Most likely meaning you have a custom game mode. If you are doing a standard map you could just rename all the files from an existing valve map.
    • Be at least beta 1
    • Have a finalized description that won't be changing. We don't want to do the same map twice.
    • If after some time we have more languages available you may make another request to get updated with what you are missing.

    Requesting
    • Send me a PM on the forum with a copy of your <mapname>.txt
    • If you are requesting an update, please send all description files.

    Info
All description files reside in the same directory as the BSP, and can be embedded into it. You should include one without a suffix as well, this will be the fallback if a file does not exist for the client's language. Assuming this will be the one in english, you don't need to include an _english file.

    Translators
    Danish - HeaH
    Dutch - Alias, DaBeatzProject
    Finnish - Jonah, Westerhound
    French - Loc n Lol
    German - eerieone, Nutomic, Trotim
    Italian - TerabyteST
    Japanese - Chaopsychochick
    Korean -

    Norwegian - Muffin Man
    Polish - Seba-079
    Portuguese - Caliostro
    Russian - Hellfire, UFOslava
    Simple Chinese - PenPen
    Spanish - Washipato
Swedish - Fearlezz, Ravidge, tovilovan, Westerhound
    Traditional Chinese - PenPen

    How to help out
Native speakers are much preferred. Though if you are very fluent through study you may be able to join the team. Obviously, you should also have a firm grasp on English itself.
The general idea is that you should be able to sit down and translate the file in a small amount of time without having to look things up.

Dropbox. We will use this to get the files to everyone and back to me as simple as possible. Post or PM me your Dropbox address and I'll send you an invite. You will find more detailed instructions on the process in there. If you don't have Dropbox, I can send you an invite and then we'll both get extra space.

    More?
I think that covers everything. Just post if you have any questions or whatnot.

While I am not a native speaker, I would like to volunteer myself as a Japanese Translator.

I minored in it in college and have a basic proficiency and would LOVE to have an excuse to be able to practice/improve on my japanese, so I am more than happy to help with those translations. :)

I'll take the job of Norwegian translator. :)

EDIT: Norwegian, Danish and Swedish people should be able to cross check each other's translations because the languages are so similar. Unless there's a second translator, of course.

I can do German translations (native). I don't have dropbox yet, either.

But there seems to be a lack of French translators?

I can do dutch translations and i have dropbox.
I still think an internet translater tool would help enough to find people that do that. If any weird language comes from it then (words that dont realy make sense) a cross check would be needed. Its usualy a special way of speaking that is used and in those insults can be placed which a translater tool doesnt instantly notice. Still, choss checking is more ideal if you know the translaters wont do such actions.

I can do swedish. Also, I don't think those who speak scandinavian language should crosscheck eachother - our languages are more different than we think ^_^

    (and I have dropbox:O)

Much better turnout than I expected :D though we still only have four languages covered. If you all would PM me the email you used for dropbox so I can get the shared folder going that would be good.
I'll give it a few more days for people to sign up and for everyone to get hooked up.
