Map assistance

    Hey, just starting building my map. My idea is to create it in the style of the DDay landing at Omaha and such places.

    If someone could make me concertina barbed wire, shingle texture and landmines would be much appreciated.

    I also have one problem. The red spawn i have created is a boat and when setup time is over the front moves from being vertical to horizontal to open. however i haven't been able to work out how to do this any suggestions.

    the gate on the higgin's boat is probably going to be done with a func_door_rotating, set the origin of the door on the pivot point of the gate so it flips up and down when someone walks near it. Just make sure to make your trigger box large enough so your nifty little higgin's boat doesn't turn into a catapult when someone gets launched by a premature door closure

    good luck, i actually almost made this same idea for my first map

    I've played on a map that had this exact idea already. Still, I'd love to see how you do it.

    And yeah, use a func_door rotating like louiekid said.


    By the way, you will not be able to make the cables holding the door work as moving cable entities don't work in TF2. If you were planning on making them, don't.

    yh thanks i was going to put the cables there but just as a prop wonder that hinder the mechanism.

    Well now that I think about it, they could be a prop/brush that starts out inside the walls of the boat and is parented to the door so that they open up.
    That would work, it wouldn't "hinder the mechanism."

    But cable entities won't work.

    I already have the func_door rotating and with the point at the bottom in the middle this swings it from there i can't work out where it needs to be

    is the door rotating on the wrong axis?

    PM me your email and I will send you an aborted map I started based on the omaha thing....if you want it...

    ....it is rough, but the doors open the boats work ok.
