making a reflective mirror?

    Im trying to make a reflective mirror like in real life where you can see yourself, how would I do that?

    You can make a mirror which consists of a func_reflective brush-based entity. But the use of mirrors is discouraged. Also, you won't see yourself in the mirror, unless you taunt or go into thirdperson mode.

    Hammer Hell did a segment on it

    I think making a little square box a mirror would cause the world to draw 7 times. One for you and one for each side of the box/mirror. :(

    Only one side of the box may have the reflective glass texture because of engine limitations. Additionally, only one Mirror is allowed per leaf. More of them create a strange and bad looking HoM (Hall of Mirrors - that what happens when you fly into the void in spectator mode) effect.

    And (yeah, even more limitations ^^) you are not allowed to use water in the leaf of that mirror. If you want a "cheap" mirror, try using one of the "chrome"-textures with a cubemap with maximum size. Doesn't look as good, but causes fewer bad effects.
