    koth_atlas - Spur of the moment mapping

    This isn't my first map, I've made several jump maps but I feel it's time to contribute to the actual game. And I finally feel that I know enough about mapping to make something worthwhile.

    I don't know why but I just had the urge to start up a new koth map with the control point really close to a wall as opposed to in the middle.

    This may end up being detailed for Frontline, but that can wait till beta.

    Your map is well decorated and balanced! My only complaints are that everyone spawns in the same place, and the layout is kind of confusing, but I only played one round so I should start to remember it soon. Other then that you're doing great! Keep up the good work!

    Yeah I realized that I forgot about the spawns almost immediately after upload. And I will add arrows, that didn't even cross my mind. Cheers!

    updated to _a2:
    added arrows
    moved some crates around
    did some temp texturing
    changed the clipping on the metal cover on the cp
    moved the spawns quite a lot just to make the walk down the 'elbow' shorter

    added the garage
    made the big garage door open and close based on who has the cp (you can probably get stuck under it atm & the lighting is weird)
    changed a bunch of textures
    moved the center building forward a bunch
    added an awning to the center buildings back to reduce sniper sightlines onto the center doors (still too big imo)
    removed the center rock and replaced it with some crates alongside the center building
    moved the health and ammo under the side awnings back so you won't get killed by indirect splash damage waiting for the packs to respawn
    lowered the walls on the roofs a bit for no reason

    So how do I go about actually getting this thing tested by humans? I can only do so much with bots. (especially when blu engis refuse to build outside of garage)

    I wouldn't know, but I do know that UEAKCrash's next tutorial is about how to get the map playtested.

    You can get your map tested in an imp (impromptu map playtest), or a gameday. Imp's are unscheduled and usually happen daily. Join the steam group chat and use the bot's commands to add your map to the imp list. If you need any help just ask someone in the chat room as it's usually pretty active. Then when a lot of people are online, and one of the VIP's feels like hosting one, they'll announce an imp from the group and start playing through the maps on the server. Please note that not all imps get through the entire list on the bot, so you may have to wait about because the list has been kinda big recently.

    Gamedays are scheduled a day or two before they start. They usually happen atleast once every week or every two weeks. If you check the site regularly then you may see a thread announcing one. If you have a map ready to be play tested, go to the thread, read over the post, and submit your map. In these, its first come first serve, so try to be quick when submitting.     My attempts at loading this map have all resulted in freezing my game client. I am unsure what the reason is, as other custom maps work fine...
