ARENA Kaboom

    Kaboom is a small and fast-paced arena map, well suited for quick rounds. With not too much cover and health packs are absent, players must make quick decisions. As always, the CP becomes available 1 minute in to the round.

    It's my first map, so feedback on the layout is very important. I'm going to submit this on a gameday soon.

    Looks to be very small, and too open. snipers will do way too well. Plus, there's no room to go around the point. Most arena maps are focused outwards (teams often end up circling the point) and there's no room to do that here.

    EDIT: plus, those two metal fences arent mirrored

    I'd also not bother with doubling up small item drops, especially so close together and so close to the main objective. People would just pick up both.

    Didn't except to get feedback this fast - thanks guys! Fixing these issues right now.

    EDIT - Alpha 2 released
    -Added more cover
    -Not as open anymore
    -Made ammopack placement better
    -Playerclipped fences
    -Redesigned mid
    -Fixed some clipping issues

    I don't know if you updated the screenshots, but the map still looks open around the point...

    Maybe putting it inside a small building would help.

    Oh! I did leave feedback.

    Anyways, even though we have that handy feature for feedback, thought I would post here so you have a quick reference. Layout is nice and has potential. I'd suggest adding some more height variants, you really only have the two side cliffs, and the stuff that the props create. Couple of ideas to fix this, raise/lower the cliffs, or make them mutliple levels. You could raise or lower the point a bit, also adding a tiny bit of cover around it would't hurt. I wouldn't add a whole building, but a couple of well placed crates would be helpful.

    You should look into adding some light to your spawn rooms and buildings (entity's name is "light") just toss that in for alpha purposes, don't need many. just 1 will do.

    Even though it is arena, your health packs are lacking, might want to add 2 (no more than 3) around the map.

    Hope that helps, and I enjoyed playing the map, can't wait to see what it becomes, so stick with it! :D

    Consider adding an elevated route and perhaps some additional flanking routes to make it a little less linear.

    Map updated to A3
    -Added a flanking route to the point
    --Containers are reachable from here
    -Point is now elevated
    -Added light in spawns
    -Removed areaportals due to them being stupid
    -Nodrawed and func_detailed stuff
    -Containers cannot be entered anymore
    -Cover is more brush-based
    -Other stuff I can't remember

    You should update your screenshots so we can see what you've done. I have issues with my comp and hosting maps.
