By the comments I got on my maps it seems like they don't seem to realize what I am making and that is probably because I am posting it on the wrong site. I want to create most maps that are not followed by "valve standards" and mostly used for fun.

I would like answers from people who have been part of tf2maps.net and have big understanding on how this site works.

Also if it is for "valve standard" maps then any ideas where I could post my maps to and get playtested because it seems weird for the site to be named tf2maps when I get feedback that my map is not welcome here.

    Thank you.

You can post pretty much any kind of map on the site, but maps added to the IMP (Impromptu Map Playtests) bot list via Discord should be intended for normal play, I.E. fighting towards an objective and not, for instance, a trade map.

I can't see any downloads on your account, where did you get this feedback?

This might be the section you are looking for:
    https://tf2maps.net/forums/non-standard-maps.83/

Also be aware there are some people around who seem to think their toxic behavior is acceptable and have it in their minds that they speak for the community here when in reality, they do not!

The ones you do have to mind are the ones with the "Staff" or "Moderator" tag above their names.

As for getting your maps play tested you would probably have to find someone who is willing to host your maps on a community server. They can be tough to find but there are some out there who are willing to help out.

Deleted and will start fresh, you can probably see a site log.

However if I have a long map like cp_orange layout but with not as much open space would I be able to put it up for playtesting or not?

So would one of these have a chance in the playtesting session. Because the first one is flat and has somewhat too long sniper sightlines and the second one no spawn doors.

From they way they look it seems those would be fine for play testing on the IMP (Impromptu Map Playtests) server. They seem to have a game objective in mind which qualifies.

Before I forget, it won't matter what stage of development you map is in or what flaws it may have. Just make sure to take the contructive feedback and don't take any of the negative feedback personal. Some people will give negative feedback just for the sake of being an ass about it.

They might be accepted for play in an IMP by staff, but I imagine players would not wait long to RTV out of them after leaving heavy criticism, as most people here do expect "standard" maps. Orange-type maps are generally looked down upon here because they revolve around major scaling flaws and aren't good for serious, balanced play.

There are no restrictions on hosting nonstandard maps on the site.

I also might have gone into a different direction as well now that I think about it. ThirdEye might be mostly talking about where to post certain maps. The 2 in the pics can be posted here under "Normal Threads": https://tf2maps.net/forums/map-factory.44/

There are other maps there as well that are in the early stages of development just like those 2.

Generally as has been stated in this thread: you can host whatever you want here, we have a section for non-standard maps.

As for map testing, we only really test standard maps, and even then generally maps that are at least trying to be game quality. If you were to run either of those examples you gave on our servers, you should expect a lot of negative feedback.
