Made a snow blend texture a few weeks ago and now just tried it in my map.

I know that it doesn't leave footprints, but what are the other reasons why peeps don't use / like it.???

It doesn't look that bad in my map.......

Your thoughts?

Yours doesn't look amazing or terrible. :) however I saw someone making a snowy CTF map with really good custom building / snow textures.

maybe you could beg them for 'em?

It's nice, but maybe it should be a bit smoother and more uniform-looking. Maybe even a bit brighter (though a good color correction setup can do that for you). Right now it kind of looks like giant heaps of salt.

Keep at it. I love snow environments.

The snow maps, being made by MangyCarface and Acegikmo, are ctf_icefield and cp_glacier, respectively.

I think your tex looks like snow, but it's too dirty looking, like it would work for HL2 or DoDS. I'm picturing a bright white/blueish sparkley, smooth and puffy snow fitting a lot better with the TF2 theme.

after thought:

You could make the blueish tint the alpha blend, that would give the illusion that the snow was deep in that area....
