And if it is possible, how?

For a map I'm working on I need a fence, and all the prop fences don't fit or look right. So I decided to make my own fence, and it turned out great. Problem is, they are all seperate parts instead of just one whole thing, and since I need a lot of these around my map, it destroys the optimazation I've already done.

Is it possible to make the fence I made into it's own seperate prop? Like the .mdl files?

also, there is a prop that I am using in my map. but it is breakable. how do I make it so it wont break?

Proper is a programm that turns brushes into models, but i'm not sure where you get it from or if it still works after steam pipe.
And since the question is "can you make your own prop?": yes, you could do your own custom model but it sounds like you don't want this as an option.

Try setting the health of your breakable prop to 0 or make it a prop_dynamic_override

I already made what I want the model to be, I just want it to be importable when I need it. Because in the project it is multiple textures and brushes making it up. If it was a prop it would just be one thing, right?

Propper turns Hammer brushes into models; normally, models are made with an external program, like 3dsmax or maya or blender, then textured with photoshop or gimp or paint.net. I'm assuming you don't want to learn all those programs and go through the hell that is compiling models for source for a single fence, so Propper is your best option here. Or you could just select your fence, click Create Prefab on the bottom right, save it as something sensible, and place that with the point entity tool.

I don't think proper works anymore so I'm going to try blender. I assume you just save it as a .mdl for it to work correctly in hammer?

Propper works fine, you just need to set it up properly.

You can probably ask someone to make models for you with Propper if you upload the VMFs how you want them. I'd do it if I had any time this week.

Pretty sure there are plug ins that dont require HL2 but that dosn't change the fact that you still should have that game

Previously people have compiled Propper for free. They're so simple and you'd be doing 99% of the work anyway.
