Hi, since the items are loaded into the .bsp's themselves instead of the games VPK files, I was wondering if I could unpack them. I remember someone mentioning it, but can't seem to remember how. Of course, provided I'm allowed to use them. *Looks at crash*

You are supposed to use BSPSource, but I used them and It didn't work.

-EDIT:- Probably should have decompiled first.

Thanks- now that I've got the VMF, how would I go about extracting the custom content itself to load it into hammer?

Well you can extract the pak ZIP from the BSP using GCFScape, and then decompress it using 7-Zip.

The props aren't free for use, though. You would need to find a list of authors for each asset and ask about licensing. Some of the Invasion people post here, or you could ask in our Steam chat room for help on that.

    I'm actually looking into this.

I'm partially in the mind to think that they are infact Valve's property, and should be considered 'stock' despite them not appearing in the main folders. All props have to be submitted through the workshop, and that workshop item is now 'accepted, thus, it is now part of the game. So technically, I would think that you could use the invasion, borneo, snowplow and Suijin props without crediting the author. As I said though, I'm looking into it.

I'll ask Ronin about that, see if knows the terms of use or can contact the creators who may know them. I started out just curious of what they looked like but now I actually want to know which legal party they belong to.

Since they were submitted through the Workshop, and ARE part of the games files, I'm 95% certain that they are property of Valve, as stated by the workshop agreement.

EDIT: should be noted, that if you want to be nice, you can still credit the author of the assets, stock or not. I'm just checking to see if you're obligated to.

Sorry to bump this, but what was the final decision? Asking because a friend is making a Halloween update for his trade server map and wants to use the UFO from the one map in it, but he's not sure whether or not he'd need permission to do so.

It's all on them, so bug BANG or Ronin for them.
