I've had the opportunity to run through a few of the invade ctf entries, and a problem that seems to plague a lot of them, is that there's nothing that really distinguishes the capture point, usually nothing more than an area with warning tape for the most part.

Obviously the solution to this is to create something which universally defines capture points in ctf , and prevents the confusion I've been witnessing in each of the invade entries.

Now, what I would need for starters, is sizes. Preferably exported .dxf files of the capture areas of various maps, so I can get a general idea how big an area the models should fit.

I'd also like some feedback on this thought, before I actually make an attempt to pursue it!

I would think a simple hologram would be fine.

Don't worry about fitting the model to the maps. The CP baseplate is used regardless of the capture zone size in CP maps as it is. The model and hologram catch the eye and draw it to the hazard tape if someone wants to know the exact location.

Entirely true, but I would still like to have some idea how much free space I generally have.

I was thinking a little less away from the generic lets stick a hologram on it trail of thought, and more towards the creative lets come up with some cool ideas for a machine that interacts with the intel, and clearly marks a capture zone.

Don't make a machine of some sort, that just restricts mappers. Something generic is what it needs to be, just like the CP. The mappers can make the surrounding area look like whatever they want or need.

If you want to do so go ahead. I just don't see it becoming any kind of standardized model if it's too thematic.

Yeah I'm having a hard time thinking of a way to make even a hologram that would work both in, for example, supertoaster's capture zone (a small but relatively open area with the capture in the middle of it) and my own (a doorway into a small thematic centerpiece).

For one the most obvious clue for the area would need to be on the ground, horizontal, but for the other it would almost need to be in the doorway, standing vertically.
