Importing models from other Source games

I know this isn't TF2 related, but I've scoured the internets, and chances are the answer would be the same if it were for TF2 anyway. I want to import Portal models into HL2. However, if I just directly copy and paste in the models from my directories, then a HL2 player without Portal will surely just see errors?

If you copy and paste the models into the other source games, you'll need to include them in your map. Unfortunately there's only one Source game I know of that can access the other GCFs.
