Impassable wall, but able to see names?

    Tried a bunch of stuff, now I doubt that it's possible to create a wall, that's invisible, players can't pass through it, can't shoot through it, but can see teammates' names when aiming at them. Well, is it really impossible?

    I think it's only possible with clip brushes, but you'll be able to see through those. A func_illusionary won't work in conjunction because you can't see player names through them.

    What are you doing with it exactly?

    Meh, another boxing ring map, for mah every-three-months happening boxing tourney, improving my old map. Trying to make a place for commentators/referees, where (if are disguised spies) they can see who is fighting who and how much hp do they have left. While doing that, they shouldn't be vulnerable to fighters gone rogue :p

    Also tried clip brushes, but they block names.

    If it's a boxing match how are they going to attack the commentary.

    Whatever would stop bullets would also stop the trace for player name.

    Explain pls. Clip brushes don't show names, ...

    oh, snap, referee side is visualiser without an image, other side is clip brush. Will try it now.

    Being spec/Leaving referees unguarded is boring and lame dodging of learning something new in mapping.
