I just want to see whether or not this happens to be viable:

Would it be possible (and not client-destroying) to create a ball pit? As in, a pit filled with small spherical physics objects that react to players, explosions, and so on? Say, at the base of a slide?

No. TF2 has stripped down one-way physics.

Not to mention, if you had that many physics models in the source engine you'd be effed. It would kill your computer.

That's what I figured, but I thought I'd check just to be sure. Ah well. That one's off the drawing board.

You might be able to fake it with some sort of particle system.

Nah- I was just trying to think of something interesting I could add to the end of a slide.

My vote goes for a death trap. Nothing like a fun slide ride that ends in death. :D

Make something that looks like a ball pit but then it turns out to be a door that opens before you reach the end and drops you into a spike pit.

Yeah, those are both directions I was thinking of going with it. :D
