Before I did Dualmove (yeah you remember that one) I had done a CP map called CP_River

It was kinda good, it had an approximatly working layout, but I never went beyond dev textures because I felt overwhelmed at the time. Sadly I lost it with my hard drive last year I think and I have nothing to show :s

The first few releases I made were pretty bad. It was early 2007. I had become a member of my first gaming community based on HL2DM: Phoneburnia. I didn't know what func_detail was, leaks were a foreign concept, and visuals were primitive. But by God they were played a lot.

The first was for a zombie server hosted by Phoneburnia. Basically various npcs would spawn around the map and you would kill them, rummaging around for weapons, ammo, and health. This map was z_office_tower.

The second was for another server in Phoneburnia. This server had a mod where you could both build things like in Garry's Mod and play the standard deathmatch. I made the first map suited for this server mod where it featured both a deathmatch area and a build area. The deathmatch area was taken from the previous office tower map. pb_lobby is probably the most played map I made as it was used frequently on the build/deathmatch server.

It's pretty likely that that's me in the green airboat.

It's been a while since I mapped for Portal. Back when I was doing this, that community wasn't that large. It was still like 10x large as TF2Maps, but you could remember who posted and what maps they made.

I take too long to map. I am super OCD, get frustrated quite easily when things don't work out and spend way too much time with my sketchbook. I'm a very erratic designer.

I unfortunately don't have any surviving images of my first sealed and complete map, but upon testing I realised the scale was way off and it was pretty much a rat map.

Here's a video of one of the earlier recorded maps I made. I know I have another one back from 2008 where I commented how amazing the lighting was, but I can't find it.

I remember playing that, the rock models were non-solid and so you could hide and build in them

Woah, I remember seeing that map on halomaps.org

Fun fact, my friend helped make yoyorast island and then made yoyorast island 2. He's busy with life things now, but he gets on tf2 sometimes.

We should hold a gameday called "your old shame" to play all these high quality maps.

As long as they're actually playable, that sounds pretty horrible. In a good way.

    ctf_offtrack... it had trains.

The interesting fact is that I had made Koth/Arena Tron-themed map before this one. It wasn't actually THAT bad. The arena randomly changed every 10-15 seconds, and was kind of akin to icarus's grid... but more random.

Don't ask to see it. There is nothing left.

I wanted to do something special.
First you had to cap the CP, to start the cart.
Blue was able to push the cart than.
For every captured control point they got a shorter route.

    "Beta 1"

When I stopped working on it

I was so damn proud of that cave displacements. :p
