I thought Valve removed Prop textures?

    I thought they seperated them from the normal textures so we wouldnt accidentally use them. Seems the missed a few lol.

    You can use prop textures fine, they work perfectly.
    model textures on the otherhand screw with lighting, and should be avoided!

    I'm pretty sure both props, and models, use the vertex lit shader which bugs out when applied to a brush surface.

    Just use the words wood/, metal/, glass/ ect when searching for materials. :)

    What's the difference between prop and model textures? They both go on models, so should be using the vertex shader...

    Some of the props/ textures don't seem to actually have model conterparts.. unless someone can tell me what props/metaldoor01_96_noentry actually belongs to.

    Also props/mousehole001, shouldn't that be a decal? Heheh.

    props/cobweb* is another odd one.

    Ok well i meant model texture. But the same thing applies I thought they were taken out of the texture viewer.

    I wish they'd be removed again too. Or at least, I'd like to stop staring at the ugly Ambulance texture whenever I boot up Hammer.

    Ah, but what fun would that be, not testing maps and seeing strange textures that change color/contrast as you move around? FUN!

    Im skilled enough with hammer to avoid them, I just find it annoying that the model textures show up first in the texture editor causing alot of issues for new people. I cant wait for the next crop of why are my textures flashing threads that seemed to popup every few days :)
