how do i add mvm robots to my map without an mvm spawn just a robot...in a room...that's it.
If you just want the prop, you can make a prop_dynamic and set the worldmodel to one of the robots.
If you want an actual robot, that talks and shoots and explods, you're gonna need a .pop file to go along with your map.
what is a .pop?
A .pop file is what basically tells the map what robots to spawn in, when they spawn, and how much money to give to players. I'm not entirely sure how they work, and I'd like to give an example that wasn't 30wave, but I cant' seem to find one of the defaults.
EDIT: I found this link from the TF2 wiki, have a look!
yeah but i'm not making an MVM map, i need just the robots to stand around and shoot players.
As far as I know that's impossible, robots are technically just Blu guys that are spawned when a wave starts. An OK alternative is to spawn a sentry, if that's alright.
i guess that's what i will have to do. thanks for the help though!
You could spawn regular bots, but that would not be done via the map. It would have to be done though the server playing the map.
What you would have to do map side is using things like NPC clipping to control where the bots can move and what they do. It would not be perfect, but if all you want is them standing and shooting, you could confine them to a room with a NPC clipped window. They would be able to see and shoot through it, but not walk out of the area.
As for them being MVM bots, that's just a skin. Functionally the bots are very similar as I believe the MVM are given different loadouts as well as the skin change.
Separate names with a comma.
