Ok, had a hard drive issue awhile back but now need my files :)

I've lost my custom textures (original files) but have them in my packed map :)

Is there anyway I can get them out of the packed map so that I can use them again?

    Thanks

Open your .bsp in VIDE using its Pakfile Editor and extract the files.

You can also use GCFScape to open bsp's and extract files out of them.

If opening your map in GCFScape doesn't help too, you could try using BSPSource to decompile your own map, and thus get everything that is packed in it.

I know this is an old thread, but I am having the same problem and would like to know how you fixed it. Thanks in advance.

Un-repack it if you repacked it (basically the same process as repacking but minus the "-compress" parameter). Then open it in GCFscape. If this somehow doesn't work, let us know where it went wrong.

GCFscape worked without a hitch! Thanks for the help. I repacked the map, but I tried to open it in VIDE first. I got the same error I was getting initially and I started panicking for a second, but everything worked just fine when I opened it in GCFscape.
