How to get custom maps into dedicated server

I was thinking of opening up a dedicated server, I've tried it before but I can't get custom maps in the map rotation, a fairly noobish question, how do I do it?

If this is the wrong place please move it.

IF you are using SRCDS, put them in the orangebox/tf/maps/ folder
If you are using the steam server, put them in the normal TF2 maps folder.

Starting a dedicated server can and will be the most frustrating experience of your life. Believe me.

it can be a pain in the ass to run a gameserver, but its definately worth it. to actually have maps available for play, do what cameron mentioned. to actually have them in the rotation, add them to your maplist.txt

Ah, I didn't know that you needed to put them in mapcycle.txt.....
Then again, I always used changelevel at the end of the round if my server in online for more than one round.
