Been looking around the forums, and have not found a clear answer. I'm stuck on weather to use a particle system, and how to use a particle system or to use func_precipitation. When I use the precipitation function in hammer I get nothing when I use snowfall particle type, while snow particle looks like rain. Not sure again on how to implement snow, would like a bit of an explanation of how to do this.

I'd like to know the same. I've contacted Icarus on how he did it in cp_coldfront and will be posting an answer here once I've been able to talk to him.

As far as i can see, the snow comes from info_particle_systems that uses the particle: "env_snow_stormfront_001", placed in a grid with 1344 units between them.

It is simply particle systems. Decompile viaduct or coldfront and you can simply copy the entities straight out. Keep in mind that the particles will go through objects, so place them wisely.
