How do you make Death Pits?

    I'm really close to having an alpha map ready for testing, but one of the last things I need is a death pit.

    I have no clue how to make death pits and can't find any tutorials that correspond. If anyone could link me to a kill trigger/death pit whatever tutorial from here or elsewhere, that'd be awesome.

    Even better if it had a really simple explanation and someone just explained it in this thread. That'd also be awesome.

    just for future reference, when you have a question as simple as this it might be worth taking a look at the developer wiki or just googling it instead of making a thread for no reason

    how long could he have possibly looked for if googling this threads title and "hammer editor" yields the answer as the first result?

    For what it's worth, you should get in the habit of studying decompiled Valve maps when you have questions. Discovering something yourself is often the best way to learn something. You can download decompiled official maps from Cynx's thread here, or you can decompile them yourself using BSPSrc.

    Quick tip when making deathpits: make sure you set "Zero Damage Force" to "Yes". This stops ragdolls from shooting up into the air and cartwheeling when they die.

    It's not mandatory but it bugs me. :l

    As far as the aesthetics, when I was making foolsgravel's deathpit I mostly followed this ( http://tf2maps.net/threads/abyss-darkness-illusion.4950/ ) suggestion, with increasingly opaque black func_brush's.

    Also, if it happens to be ctf make sure you have a func_respawnflag too, or the intel will just sit in the pit
