How do I make diagonally placed building? (efficiently)

I know how to make them but I dont know how it will affect the engine.
Back when I was mapping for Portal 2, using func_instance was a way to go solution but that's probably because it was a single player game which means I can do literally anything with visleafs given that it is 'acceptible'

But I believe tf2 is alot different.
Stuffs happen everywhere and keeping clean portal flow seems to be the case.

So, What is the best way to make a diagonal building that affects the least to the performance of the map?

Use func_instances, and hint stuff up well to keep the good portals.

Yeah, but you can also tweak it with portal planes over the area to keep good PVS's if you know what you're doing well.

Additionally if you have enough patience to keep it all on the grid you could just manually make it diagonal.
