i want a player clip to have the sound effects of wood to emulate a smooth wooden staircase, but it defaults to the footstep sounds of concrete. ive tried extracting the vmt for the player clip and adding '"$surfaceprop" "wood"' to it and compiling the map using that texture, but it still uses the concrete sounds. anybody know how to do this?

update: i tried moving the vmt to the wood folder and it still doesn't work. im currently downloading csgo in order to extract the tool textures from that game since it has a wooden player clip and see if that works in tf2s engine

Perhaps try with blockbullet instead, I've seen people get custom surface props for that working
