Hello all! I am ellacourn, and I am a novice map maker. I'm trying to figure out all this Hammer stuff since the changes made by the Steampipe update. I *HAVE* actually built a Source Engine map before, but that was when the SDK actually was in use. I will probably be asking for help in the next post so look out for that.

A little aside about myself, I've been more of a programmer then a map maker. I used to use Love2D to produce games ( albeit bad games, but games nevertheless ) and I've done a lot of work with RIA ( took a 3 year course in C-Sharp for Web Development and a seminar for Flash ). I also did a lot of desktop development, though I didn't get far ( I'm pretty darn fluent in Java but my Python skills are a bit rusty ).

Anyways, I hope to meet you all in a bit!

You made games, and thats all that matters!

Welcome to the community. Have you tried to open hammer in via the tf/bin folder?

Actually, that's where I opened the Hammer. I know it's a big "No-No" to open it via SDK ( it won't open that way, as I've learned ).
