I heard awhile ago that you can put all your custom content for mapping in a separate folder, you can keep better track of it. Today, I decided to do that. All of my custom content is in a folder named "tf_custom" in "Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2", next to the "tf" folder. Now, how can I use this folder? I assume you have to add it to "gameinfo.txt", but where does it go?

Thanks for your help, but that method didn't work for me. I saw a similar one on TF2Maps, but I can't find it.

When the game runs, it mounts the content in tf in the materials, models, and sound folders and so on. It won't mount any new folders unless you add them to the gameinfo.txt file that lives in tf. You don't need to add a new folder and configure that text file, though, because you can just put your stuff inside folders in the tf/custom directory. Anything in there gets mounted. It's what the folder is for.

Examples:
  • tf/custom/mystuff/materials
  • tf/custom/mystuff/models
  • tf/custom/construction_pack/materials
If you want to put your stuff somewhere else you can add the location in gameinfo.txt here:
