I just want to point out I usually avoid pointing brand new people to it. There is a lot there they won't need or understand until they have the basics down, and some of it is things they should learn to do themselves before they have something to do it for them.Wonderful add-on to Source SDK:

The only thing I use the pack for it the gamemode setups. I tried again and again but I can never get my own going so I just use the ones in that pack now.
For anything else, make it yourself. Doors and stuff aren't too hard. There are tutorials (I really suggest the valve developer community pages) to help you out.
But doing it yourself is the way to learn to use the gamemode setups. That said, it's sometimes hard to test if a gamemode is working without players on both teams, and it's not fun to find out it doesn't work during a gameday.
