So, as the tittle says, every time i try and run TF2 / Hammer, i end up having to validate TF2 caché. WHY? I tried removing clientregistery.blob or whatever that file is called, also validating it by myself, defragmentating, .... weird. all i can say.
So if you bug-fighters got any idea... i don't think it can go worse.

BECAUSE also, almost everytime i join a server, hl2 crashes. Then i reset the game, and once it starts up i close it and open it again, because on the first restart ALSO looses conection to the items server. :V

So help is A LOT welcome.

    Same. Except hl2.exe doesn't crash.

    Yes, same here.
I thought it was because I played TF2 on linux and then switched to windows.
But it seems like linux has nothing todo with it.

As far as I know this is happening to literally everyone

It seems like validating (Properties, local files, validate) when you know it will force you to validate anyway often solves it for a while... for some people. Works for me, anyway.

I wonder if it has to do with Valve attempting to migrate the game to the new content delivery system. It doesn't play nicely with GCF, apparently, which is why they haven't been able to officially convert it yet.

if you force to validate the cache by going into the game's properties you can't really use steam which sucks, at least for me. I just click on TF2 and it just launches it and forces a cache validation naturally, and I can use the rest of steam luckily. Just a tip.

Yeah yacan, and that's what i got to do almost every time i wish to play. I think it also has something to do with internet conection. no idea, through.

And this + everything else mentioned onthe OP makes the game almost unplayable.

GCFscape and Crafty's file system viewer are both compatible with VPK. Have been since at least 2009.
