Help creating custom gametype

Being that I'm virtually a layman in all things Hammer despite my having dabbled in it for a while now, it might sound stupid for me to explore unventured ground with a new gametype. Trust me, it is, which is why I have no idea how to make it happen.

If anyone could just lend me a hand and endow unto me the knowledge, I'd be very much appreciative.

So it's basically this. For starters, I started with the regular gravelpit gametype and then added 2 cp's. I tried making it so that the last cp was the final cp instead of C and that A and B would be, not necessary for winning, would be sequential, would lock after the cap of C and would unlock D. I tried changing the cap icon order but that didn't work at all after I compiled the preliminary map. So to say the least, I'm at a bloody loss.
