I wanted to do something a little more productive than WoW, so I wandered over here to see what's involved in map making.
Youme's sig has been very helpful. Also his guide to making displacements showed me they're a lot easier than I thought they'd be. I have some pics of the product of me messing around with displacements and lighting. I'm pretty satisfied how it turned out with the different layers of the texture matching the different levels i made in the cliff. any comments would be appreciated.
With all the guides and tutorials available, I'll probably mostly be checking back in for feedback on me creations.

You've certainly come to the right place, lol. Displacements are similar to most things in Hammer; it's pretty easy to learn, there's just a lot of it. Most questions can be answered w/ a quick search in the main forum or Tutorial section. And there's usually someone in Steam chat who can help out as well. Welcome to the group!
