I can't tell any diffrence between having HDR enabled, and having it not enabled. Either, the effect is very subtle, or it's broken for me. It works in all the other Orange Box games, as in I notice it when it's on. Can someone help me out here, should I be able to see a diffrence? Because I just did an HDR compile with my map, and didn't notice any diffrence, so I loaded up a Valve map and didn't notice any diffrence there either. Thanks
I definitely notice it in tf2, especially when everything is still orange. Like if I'm looking at a shadowed wall and then quickly to one with the sun shining on it the brightness will flare, then gradually go down.
It's present but it's toned down by a tonemap controller. Maps like mach4, which are missing this entity, are obviously more washed-out and overpowered by the HDR.
I guess it must be broken for me. Is there anything I need to do to get it working, apart from setting it in the video options?
Make a map and create a cube covered in tools/toolswhite. Compile it and view the map with HDR and without HDR. HDR is very subtle in TF2, and that's just the way I like it. I don't want my vision to be blurred by some unrealistically bright lighting.
The controller is there, the bloom is .9 or so instead of the accepted .5 or so of Valve maps. If it lacked a controller you would see vast fluctuations in lighting due to the exposure min/maxes being unspecified.
I never had the HDR feature on my old notebook so I always wondered how it looks like. When I got my new notebook and finally could set up every setting to high I was really amazed by the look. I played Gravelpit and when I turned at the sky I just thought WOW. It feels like the sun is actually glowing behind the clouds. Same happened when I first played dustbowl with HDR enabled.
