Hi guys, I have the first stage of my map pretty much blocked out. (Alright, I admit I did do some early detailing.)
At the moment my largest concerns are gameplay and crashing.
My map will randomly crash. It freezes. :( I think there may be a missing tag in the file or something like that. I'm hoping I will be able to fix it by copying it into another map file. Will this work?

Besides the random crashing, feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
(No download until I can fix the crashing.)

    EDIT: Crashing fixed, thanks guys!

Your early detailing looks very confuse. Looks like you randomly choose your textures and the result has no coherence. Like that brush on the middle of the first screen, that is a concrete wall and on the other side become a metal wall. Or the wall on the left that is, from bottom to top, metal, then concrete, and the transform into plastic wall. There is no uniformity and it looks pretty ugly. Just pick a few amount of textures and use it a lot. Also, the building on the right is textured with an inside texture.

Use this thread to take good screenshots of your map.

It looks very tight, Hoovies and Pyros are gonna have a blastie blast. Do something about that.

    possible crash causes:
    - bad logic on your entities (though more likely it'll just result in something not behaving properly rather than cause a crash)
    - physics related

there's one physics related crash in particular that i'm thinking about, which is when a displacement surface glitches out, resulting in a game crash whenever physics based objects pass over said displacement. this usually is the result of clipping/vertex manipulation on a displacement that has already been sculpted.
a player will be able to run and jump over one of these just fine, but if they fire a rocket or a demo pipe or sticky over it, it will cause a game crash.

i guess what i'm saying is: is it really a random crash you're experiencing, or does it occur only after you fire a pipebomb or similar?

The crashing usually occurs when I launch a pipebomb or similar. Now that I think of it, i did use the vertex tool on one of my displacements, (a cliff,) to make it slope down. I'll redo it, and hopefully the crashing will stop. Thanks!

Deloras, now that I look at it more closely, that wall does look pretty ugly. I retextured it, and will try to post some new screenshots soon. Thanks too!

I'm dropping out of the contest. I thought I would have more time to work on this, but school just got in the way for me. Thanks to everyone that helped me! I've learned alot.
