Ive seen a lot of textures that are part dirt(stone) and part grass(path) and ive also seen a lot of maps use that. My question is how do i change it from dirt to grass?

You should search for "blend" in the texture browser. Then you can apply the grass by making it a displacement and selecting paint aplha in the displacement menu.
