I posted in the chat so I will post it here too. This is an old CS:S map of mine that I updated and polished up for Garry's Mod. Enjoy!

(I miss making map threads here :()

Is there a secret trick to making such smooth roads or am I just stupid by using archs ?

    I made this road by:
    1) Making a spline curve in 3ds Max and generating smooth road geometry
    2) Exporting to .vmf via XSI Mod Tool
    3) Texturing it in hammer

This was a real pain, and it resulted in some fraction-unit-thick seams in a couple places. Unfortunately I still don't know of a better way, short of writing a new vmf-road-generating tool.

Displacements. You can either make them yourself or use Twister.
